A letter of thanks from the residents of Runswick Bay

Dear Councillor Cockerill,

The residents of Runswick would like to express their sincere thanks for the sterling work done by the staff of Scarborough Borough Council during the flooding events of 25 and 26 November.

John Woodhead and Andy Crossley sent a team of staff to Runswick to deliver sandbags.

They came across a serious situation where residents were attempting to save their houses from flooding with few or no resources.

The SBC staff worked tirelessly, without a break, to direct the water away from properties and the lower village that was also under threat.

Without their help we may have become part of the disaster that sadly befell other parts of the borough.
