A fund-raising coffee morning to help the victims of the world’s worst nuclear accident is being held later this month at the home of a Whitby resident.
Once again, Brenda Simpson of Muigrave Road is making her annual appeal to support the children with cancer and other life-threatening disabilities at the Revival Centre at Chernihiv in the Chernobyl area of the Ukraine.
A money-spinning coffee morning is being held at 17 Mulgrave Road on Wednesday 25 May from 10am to noon where there will be cake stalls, a raffle and tombola in aid of the charity.
And she is also appealing to Whitby Gazette readers for donations of items to take out to the children and adults from 16 May
She said: “Children’s clothes and shoes, any colour or size, from babies to teenagers, toys, adult clothing and shoes, handbags, scarves and gloves, bedding, curtains and towelos are always useful.
“Due to the good publicity of the Whitby Gazette we have been able to send two huge vans and trailers full of donated goods and duvets and last year’s coffee morning raised £850.
“Thank you for all your support.”
