Whitby’s historic lifeboat has been used in a TV advert celebrating the 250th annivesary of Lloyds Bank.

The restored ‘William Riley of Birmingham and Leamington’ was transported to Norfolk where it was filmed being pulled into the sea by ten black horses.

A black horse is the bank’s iconic logo and the advert shows what horses have been used for over the years including their role in the war and agriculture.

Pete Thompson of the Historic Lifeboat Trust which manages the lifeboat said: “Lifeboats used to be pulled by horses in the 1800s and there aren’t many of them knocking about. It is a very moving advert and a boost for us.”
