Whitby woke to a sprinkling of the white stuff this morning (Wednesday) for the first time this year.
The West Cliff was white over and while the moors roads were looking particularly picturesque.
Other parts of town and some side roads and pavements were causing problems with ice as temperatures dipped below freezing.
The weather forecast for later predicts rain and tonight the wind will pick up and the rain will turn to sleet over the higher ground.
Temperatures will remain “bitterly” cold.
