A photo taken in Whitby has been shortlisted in #MyHappyPlace, a national photo competition designed to stamp out the January blues.
Hayley Cooper, 32, from Uppingham, Rutland, entered a photo of a seagull, with Whitby Abbey in the background.
She said: “It is where we go on holiday every year.
“My mum and dad have a caravan near Robin Hood’s Bay and the children just love it there, we always have such a wonderful holiday, and Whitby is such a beautiful place.
“This photo was taken on a very sunny day, just after a lovely walk along Whitby Pier.
“I wanted to get a shot of the seagull, and at the time I couldn’t actually see what was on the screen.
“When I checked later, I realised I had got the seagull and Whitby Abbey in the background!”
January’s Blue Monday is allegedly the most depressing day of the year.
To try to help cheer up the nation in the bleak days of January, National Accident Helpline created #MyHappyPlace.
The competition asks people all over the UK to share a photo of a place which makes them feel happy when they’re ill, injured or simply feeling down.
#MyHappyPlace is for entries open until February 18 and you can find details and enter your ‘happy place’ photo here
