A jubilant Whitby chef has scooped a national award at the fourth time of asking.
Kath Breckon, who works at West Cliff School, emerged triumphant in the national final of the 2016 LACA School Chef of the Year at Stratford-upon-Avon College on Wednesday night.
Her Whitby-themed dishes won over the judges and Kath said the room erupted when her name was read out.
“I couldn’t actually believe it and asked the judge if he was joking,” she told the Whitby Gazette.
“My feet haven’t touched the ground.”
Kath has previously been a finalist three times.
She lives with her husband and two daughters and loves nothing more than walking her two dogs on the beach.
