Your Whitby Gazette has been crowned the 'Best Weekly Newspaper' in Yorkshire and the Humber - for the second year in a row.

The paper picked up the prestigious title at a glamorous award ceremony in Leeds last night (July 5) hosted by BBC TV presenter Louise Minchin.

Having won the O2 Media Award in the same category last year, the team was delighted to repeat the achievement.

The judges were impressed by the stand-out front pages and how the Gazette thrives as a big product put together by a small team.

Former Gazette reporter Sam Jones was also shortlisted for the 'Young Journalist' category for the second time in two years.

Whitby reporter Duncan Atkins, said he was delighted to see the paper win this award two years in a row and wants to thank to all readers, contributors and advertisers for their support.
