Patients will still be able to receive care at the Scarborough Day Hospice, with St Catherine's offering the transport needed to make that journey.

The announcement comes following an on-going review of Day Hospice services and staff challenges following retirement and leavers.

Patients in the Whitby area will have continued support from the Community Specialist Palliative Care Nurses, Care Homes Clinical Nurse Specialist team, and Neurology Specialist Palliative Care Nurses.

Medical review and support will continue to be available in the Whitby area via Palliative Medicine Consultant Out-Patient Clinics and the ongoing input of a Doctor to Whitby Hospital.

A spokesman for the hospice said: "If you have any questions about the change of provision please contact Lynne Symonds, Head of In-Care Services at Saint Catherine’s Hospice on (01723) 351421."
