This year’s Whitby community bonfire and fireworks event is set to go off with a bang.
The event takes place this Thursday (Nov 3), rather than Bonfire Night itself, for several reasons.
Some volunteers who play rugby on a Saturday would not be able to make it back in time, but it is also to do with a clash with Whitby Goth Weekend and the availability of the fireworks company.
The club is putting on two firework shows for the same entry price, of £5.
There will be a low level show roughly five minutes long, with no rockets, to let smaller children enjoy the experience.
The big bang show is around 8pm and is going to be better than last year.
There are more food outlets and the funhouse is making an appearance too.
The club’s aim is to make the bonfire a community event which will last for years and urge locals to support.
Doors open at 6pm.
Arriva is putting on free park and ride from 5.45pm from Sainsbury’s car park.
You can still buy tickets just from Whitby Rugby Club and Agars now - no tickets will be sold on the door.
The cost is adults £5, children free but they still need to have wristbands.
