WEATHER: Snow falling on North York Moors as A171 closed near Guisborough

The A171 is reported to have been closed near Guisborough to allow recovery of a 100 tonne articulated lorry.

AA traffic news is reporting the closure of the A171 and stationary traffic due to a stalled truck on A171 Eastbound from Whitby Lane to Margrove Road.

Police closed the road at around 07:30 this morning to arrange recovery of the 100 hundred tonne articulated lorry.

Snow falling across the North York Moors is expected to last until lunchtime.

Further outbreaks of rain persisting in the north, drier but largely cloudy elsewhere. Generally lighter winds but less cold in the south. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Thursday, generally rather cloudy, less cold. Some rain likely in north. Friday and Saturday, further spells of rain likely, turning wintry later as colder east winds develop.
