Whitby’s Lifeboat had a high speed call out this week for essential six monthly maintenance.
In less than six hours the propellors and rope cutters had been cleaned and checked, sea growth washed off the bottom of the boat and it re-treated with special paint.
The George and Mary Webb was hoisted out of the water using the Parkol dry dock at 9am on Tuesday and was back in service by 2pm.
Coxswain Mike Russell said: “Once we go through the bridge we are off service and have to notify Staithes, Hartlepool and Scarborough.
“It was a rush and needed a lot of people. Parkol are really good and fit us in at short notice and put as many men on as possible to get us turned around.”
