The public will get a chance to see Whitby’s lifeboat in action this weekend - and hopefully not in an emergency situation.
The station will be holding its annual flag weekend event to raise much needed funds for this vital service.
Throughout the weekend there are various stalls and attractions on offer and on Saturday and Sunday at 10am both the all-weather lifeboat and the in-shore vessel will be on public display at the bandstand at 10am.
On Sunday the traditional Blessing of the Boats service will take place at the Lifeboat Station at 3.30pm following a demonstration by the crews of both boats with a little help from colleagues just up the coast from Staithes RNLI and the Runswick Bay Rescue Boat.
Events are subject to weather and operational duties.
