Two casualties were cut from their vehicle on Sunday evening after being involved in a collision on the A174 at Lythe Bank.

The couple, a man and a woman, were described as being in their early twenties and became trapped in the Vauxhall Astra when the incident occurred at 9.40pm.

Firefighters from Lythe and Whitby used heavy duty cutting gear to release the two occupants, who were taken to James Cook Hospital at Middlesbrough for treatment for minor injuries.

North Yorkshire Fire Service said no other vehicle was involved in the accident.

In November another single vehicle accident occurred when a car overturned on Lythe Bank.
