Collision closes busy road

A four car pile-up took place on Downdinner Hill last Friday evening.

Police closed the road leading from Mayfield Road to Bagdale for around an hour after a Ford Focus collided with a Rover 75, also striking two parked vehicles.

The incident occurred at approximately 8.45pm when an orange Ford Focus collided with the rear of a blue Rover 75. The front of the Ford Focus and the rear of the Rover were both damaged and the Rover also struck a silver Seat Exeo, which was parked by the side of the road. This caused further damage to the Rover, while the Seat was severely damaged along the length of the driver side. It was also pushed forward, damaging a black Rover 75 which was also parked.

No major injuries were reported, although the passenger of the Ford Focus complained of minor back pain.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call PC Paul Merritt on 101, selecting option 2.
