The town joined the rest of the country in celebrating our armed forces with a successful day of events near the new war memorial on Saturday.

It was the third armed forces day in Whitby in conjunction with the town council.

The highlight was a Battle of Britain Memorial flight and an appearance from the RAF Sea King. Throughout the day there were parades from the Whitby Air Cadets and a service led by Canon David Smith.
