Tot dies from injuries after being hit by car in Whitby

Police have confirmed this morning (Monday) that the two year-old child hit by a car in Whitby last week has died from her injuries.

The incident took place at around 6.15pm on Lockton Road on Thursday and the little girl had been taken to James Cook Hospital where she was in a critical condition but sadly died the day after from her injuries.

An investigation is ongoing and Police are continuing to appeal to any witnesses who were in Lockton Road or Fyling Road area, or anyone who may have witnessed the child or a black 4x4 car prior to the incident, to come forward and contact them.

The child was wearing pink and purple trousers and a white coat with pink and purple flowers and an insect print.

A police spokesperson added that specially trained officers are continuing to provide support to the child’s family at this very distressing time.

Officers from Whitby’s Safer Neighbourhood Team are continuing patrols in the area to gather any further information about the incident and provide reassurance to local residents.
