Music pupils at Eskdale School were delighted when international saxophone player Alex Woods dropped in on their music class on his way to New York. Alex, a professional jazz saxophonist at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music, found time to run a workshop and share his experience of composing and jazz improvisation with the pupils.
Alex was a former pupil of Donna Brogan who is now head of music at Eskdale School.
Alex said: “It is a real privilege to work with so many talented young musicians. It is so refreshing to see that the future of music in Eskdale is so strong and the level of enthusiasm so high. After almost 13 years, it has been great to see my high school music teacher again, still doing such a great job of giving her students the kick start they deserve.”
