A FIVE-YEAR-OLD Fylingthorpe boy has raised £137 for charity by riding his mini-motorbike in circles around his garden.
Toby Welford, of Thorpe Lane, wanted to raise money for Red Nose Day after seeing a video on the fund-raising organisation’s website referring to a one-year-old girl who had lost her sight.
Toby’s mother, Sarah Hydes, said: “He had seen on the computer about a little blind girl and thought his sister Emma was the same age as this little girl and asked what would we be able to do to help.
“He loves his bike and we agreed that that was what he wanted to do.”
Toby is in his first year at Fylingdales School and only received the 50cc motorbike a fortnight ago.
Toby set himself the challenge of seeing how many times he could ride round his garden in two minutes, managing six laps.
“He’s a proper little petrolhead, just like his dad Mark,” added mum Sarah.
The money was donated through Toby’s page on the fund-raising site my.rednoseday.com.
