Takeaway food van allowed to set up at Blue Bank car park

A FOOD van is being allowed to trade in the car park at Blue Bank despite objections from residents in Sneaton and Ugglebarnby.

Members of the North York Moors National Park planning committee agreed to the takaway van at Eskdaleside-cum-Ugglebarnby but imposed conditions that state only cold, non-alcoholic drinks and cold food may be sold from the van and a litterbin must be provided while it is in operation.

Objectors claimed the van would lead to litter, food smells and an increased traffic hazard and suggested that there were plenty of places where refreshments can be bought in the area.

National park officers said the car park was prominent in the landscape and the view from it meant it was a popular stopping off point but they considered its visual impact would be modest and unlikely to be detrimental to public enjoyment of the special qualities of the landscape and the national park.
