Take the plunge for charity causes

What better way to spend the festive season than by frolicking in freezing seas?

Well it seems to work for Whitby locals who flock to the beach each year for the annual Boxing Day dip, and this year is set to be no exception.

The tradition has been going for at least 40 years as people don fancy dress and dash into the sea from the Battery
Parade slipway on Boxing Day morning for good causes. Twenty percent of your sponsor money raised goes towards causes the organisers, Whitby and District Lions, support and the rest to your chosen charity.

To take part in the Boxing Day dip you need to be registered. Forms can be picked up at The Copy Shop, Whitby Railway Station, Yorkshire Building Society on Flowergate or by contacting Lion Chris Harrison on 01947 897249 or
