Captain Jack Sparrow, alias Whitby dad-of-three Adam Owen, and some superhero friends, brought some festive cheer to poorly children at James Cook Hospital.

Adam, 31, who organised the event, said: “I messaged a few guys through our Facebook group to see if anyone fancied taking part.

“We are all good friends and meet up regularly for comic cons so we thought it would be a nice thing to come and visit the children.

“If we can make one sick child smile today then our work is done.”

Adam was joined by other comic sidekicks and children’s favourites including Spiderman, Batman and Chewbacca and Obi from Star Wars.

Young patients at the Middlesbrough hospital were given presents and sweets as part of the kind festive gesture.
