Sun shines on Whitby's Bloom judging

Judges from Yorkshire In Bloom finished a tour of Whitby at the iconic whalebones on Tuesday afternoon.

They were judging Whitby In Bloom’s offering and had visited many parts of the town to inspect the floral attractions.

They went to the yards, checked out the baskets on Baxtergate, the sunken gardens, Royal Crescent, restored waste land at Helredale Road and also the jewel in the town’s horticulture - Pannett Park.

A welcoming party were at the whalebones to greet the judges, pictured right, who were joined by Steve and Amanda Smith from Whitby In Bloom, borough council parks staff and the team of volunteers who give up their time to maintain Pannett Park.
