Year six children from local primary schools joined Caedmon College Whitby for a fun-filled day of international-style activities, using languages such as Russian, German, Spanish, Italian and French.
On arrival, the children went to the Bureau de Change to get their euros ready for spending at the French Patisserie at break time.
The college’s year seven Language Leaders worked as café assistants, selling croissants, pains au chocolat and drinks while ensuring that everyone spoke entirely in French.
During the day, students experienced outdoor pursuits while participating in cycling Tour de Caedmon and learning how to play boules.
The children also tasted foods from around the world and undertook several sessions using digital technology. At the end of each session, the students added a charm to their dreamcatcher, which they used after the event to describe their learning journey and reflect on the various linguistic experiences in which they had partaken.
