Search for missing family

COASTGUARD teams from Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Ravenscar, as well as the town’s inshore lifeboat and an RAF Sea King helicopter from Leconfield joined a search for two adults and their two teenage children on Sunday 17 April.

A member of the public said they were concerned for their safety as the tide was coming in.

The call was made at around 3pm but it is believed the family got off the beach unharmed.

On Saturday 16 April at around 4pm a man from Burniston was rescued from cliffs by Robin Hood’s Bay coastguards and Whitby’s inshore lifeboat between Boggle Hole and Stoupe Beck.
