Whitby Salvation Army will be launching their local Christmas Toy Appeal around town this week.

Two boxes will be distributed to local businesses – one to Superdrug, on Baxtergate, and another to the Co-op – in which donations such as toys, toiletries, sweets and biscuits can be placed.

One common way of donating, which many people appreciate, is to offer up any less than wanted items obtained in a Buy One Get One Free offer while shopping, to give to those less fortunate.

Gifts collected from this appeal will be gathered as gift parcels for families facing severe financial hardship, by providing gifts to the children at Christmas time.
