A SUCCESSFUL Rock ‘n’ Roll weekend is booming its way to Whitby this summer.

Over the weekend of 22-23 June, Whitby will have an influx of Teddy boys in their drape jackets and crepe sole shoes and ladies with their poodle circle skirts.

The event will be staged at the Whitby Pavilion and promises to bring a colourful and lively 1950s rock ‘n’ roll dance with three very popular live bands.

The Atlantics, The Bobcats and local band The Tritones will offer classic 1950s style rock ‘n’ roll, swing and rhythm ‘n’ blues music to the cliffs of Whitby.

Having spent two years in Bridlington, these rock ‘n’ roll weekends have always proved a success with people coming from all over the country to watch them.

Some top DJs will be performing with tickets selling fast, with many people having booked accommodation in the area already.

Event organiser Dianne Patrick from Flipside Rock ‘n’ Roll said: “We’re looking forward to bringing the event to Whitby Pavilion as it is such a great venue.

“We have sold a lot of tickets already and we are hoping for a full house.

“We hope that we have a sellout as it will benefit hoteliers and local businesses.”

Prices: £24 full weekend, evening tickets £13, Saturday afternoon and evening tickets £18 and Saturday afternoon tickets £8.
