A drop-in event is taking place today at Whitby Hospital.

The event comes as the hospital is set to undergo a remodelling, and is open for anyone to attend between 4pm-6pm today (March 16) in the Old Day Rehab Room on the Ground Floor.

It will give members of the public the chance to look at the design proposals for the redevelopment, pose questions to representatives from NHS Property Services, designers of the new property and staff from North Yorkshire County Council.

There will also be staff from Humber NHS Foundation Trust and NHS Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby Clinical Commissioning Group.

Dr George Campbell, a GP Governing Body Member for NHS Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby CCG, said: "We're all go now with the planning and we're in the process now of appointing the builders and developers who will do it.

"We're hoping that by late Autumn, they will start work. We will try our best not to let the remodelling affect services, but we may have to make alternative arrangements.

"We'll still keep some beds on the site and consulting rooms for outpatients so none of that will change.

"We are looking at alternative things though like using nursing homes but I would be hopeful that most services would continue pretty much unchanged."

Those interested in attending do not have to book to turn up to the event.
