WHITBY people are continuing to back the campaign to Protect Our Piers.
A protest is being organised by a group of local residents outraged by the closure of the footbridge which connects the West Pier to the extension.
It will be held on Sunday 2 October from midday on the West Pier.
Petitions being printed by the Whitby Gazette will be available for people to sign and when they have all been collected they will be handed over to Scarborough Borough Council (SBC) along with a demand that action is taken.
Hundreds and hundreds of signatures have already been gathered not counting the on-line petition which is also attracting plenty of support from the public.
A dedicated Facebook page, Save Whitby Piers, set up by father and daughter Phil and Kayleigh Smith has got over 2800 members.
Look out in Friday’s Gazette for more details of the protest.
