Nine residents of the existing St Peter’s Road flats have now collected the keys for their brand new homes on Rohilla Close.

Yorkshire Coast Homes tenant Les Ventress, 52, who has lived in his St Peter’s Road flat for more than 20 years, was one of the first to move in to the new properties.

He said: “The wait has been worth it. It’s been a long time coming but these flats are just out of this world. They’re warm, spacious, and the view is outstanding. I couldn’t ask for a better flat.”

The £10.6m development, carried out by Esh Property Services for Yorkshire Coast Homes and Scarborough Borough Council, is scheduled for completion in Autumn 2017.

A total of 105 high quality, traditionally built homes are being constructed, comprising of houses, flats and one bungalow. Fourteen homes will be marketed for outright sale, while the remaining 91 properties are being made available for affordable renting.

Shaun Tymon, Yorkshire Coast Homes’ chief executive, added: “To see our tenants move from the ageing and no longer suitable St Peter’s Road flats into these excellent new homes is particularly satisfying.”
