Power cut for more than 1,000 homes in Scarborough and Whitby

Electricity provider Northern Powergrid says that 1,223 houses in Scarborough and Whitby are currently without power.

Customers in YO22 and YO13 are currently affected by an unexpected power cut.

They say for this type of power cut they normally restore power to 90 per cent of customers in 90 minutes.

It is estimated power will return at 3.15pm.

If repairs take longer customers will be updated by Northern Powergrid.
