LEGENDARY snooker player Dennis Taylor will be a guest speaker at the Borough Mayor’s special sporting-themed dinner on Sunday 10 March and tickets are still available.
The dinner takes place at Scarborough Rugby Club and will feature the former snooker champion, famous for his sense of humour and oversized spectacles, along with stand-up comedian Martin Gold.
“I am really looking forward to coming to Scarborough and meeting up with one of my favourite comedians, Martin Gold, on what I am sure will be a great night,” said Mr Taylor.
The borough Mayor, Coun John Blackburn said that he is a huge supporter of sports as it is a way to bring the community together, and he added: “It would be great to see as many sporting people of our borough to come together for this one-off special event.
“We hope to raise as much money as possible for the Mayoress’ Community Fund, which supports local organisations.”
The £35 ticket price includes both the entertainment and a four-course dinner.
An auction will be held after the dinner with two prizes on offer.
Brian Davidson of Crown Paints, a keen supporter of civic events, has donated two hospitality tickets to a Manchester United game, including a champagne lunch and free drinks.
A snooker cue signed by Dennis Taylor will be the other prize.
