A team of estate caretakers will be taking to the streets of Whitby to improve the appearance of various estates and clean up streets.
Work includes cleaning communal areas of flats, removing rubbish and litter picking and completing minor maintenance work.
The scheme is a new arm of the successful BEACH social enterprise, in conjunction with Yorkshire Coast Homes, and will be providing training and experience for three unemployed people.
Sarah Bird, Assistant Director for Communities the housing organisation said: “We are proud to support the Beach with this new venture and believe it will help tackle issues identified in these areas by our residents as causing them concern”.
The service will also be linking to other agencies and will be identifying issues that require the attention of organisations such as North Yorkshire Police, the borough council and North Yorkshire County Council.
