Councillor resigns

Esk Valley ward councillor Tim Lawn has resigned from Scarborough Borough Council with immediate effect.

SBC has just made the announcement.

A spokesperson said: “Arrangements will be made for an election to be held once written requests have been received from two electors in the ward. It is hoped a by-election for the borough council seat can take place on Thursday 2 May – the same day as elections for North Yorkshire County Council are held.”

The news comes just days after Sandra Turner from the Streonshalh ward announced she was also stepping down.
