Air cadets from five squadrons to host parade in Whitby

Over a hundred cadets will march through the streets of Whitby on Sunday as the town hosts an Air Training Corps Parade.

They are from the five squadrons that make up the central and east Yorkshire wing of the Air Cadet organisation and it is unusual to get all the squadrons together in one place.

During the parade they will carry the banners for the five squadrons who, as well as being from Whitby, are from Scarborough, Bridlington, Driffield and Malton.

The parade will start at 1.30pm on Crescent Avenue, past St Hilda’s Church where a salute will be taken by the commanding officer before the service.

Due to illness, Rector David Smith will not be able to lead the service, but instead, 740 (Whitby) Squadron’s Padre, Deacon Helen Webster will lead the service supported by the Padre’s from Scarborough and Bridlington.

Following the service there will be refreshments.
