Police use DNA to identify body

IT could take weeks before a body found in a derelict property in Whitby is formally identified.

Police are using DNA techniques to discover the identity of the man who they believe is local.

Workmen discovered the corpse on Saturday 26 January as they carried out renovation work at the building behind Broomfield Terrace in the Bagdale area of the town.

Police said at the time they weren’t treating the death as suspicious.
