Police are appealing for information following an altercation between a pedestrian and a taxi driver next to the swing bridge last month.
It happened on New Quay Road next to the Swing Bridge at about 10.40pm on Monday January 11.
Police say it involved the driver of a white taxi and a pedestrian who were having an argument.
At some stage the pedestrian has sustained an injury to his ankle.
A police spokesperson said that officers need to ascertain how and when this injury occurred during the incident.
They added that both parties have been spoken to but further clarification of events is needed.
Local Whitby police officers are now conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
