Motorists around the Whitby and Esk Valley area are being advised to take care as the wintry weather continues to take a grip.
There are no road closures at present, but police urge all motorists to drive with care after snow, hail and wind combined to make life challenging for drivers, particularly on higher ground.
Even police patrol 4x4s are said to be struggling in some parts of the district.
Lealholm and St Hedda’s Schools closed this morning while commuters earlier reported struggling on the main roads to Scarborough and Guisborough.
Scattered snow showers are forecast for today with risk of accumulation of snow across the moortops.
Yellow warnings of snow and ice throughout the Whitby area have been issued from 6pm tonight (Wed) to midnight tomorrow.
