Whitby Town Council is set to discuss the issue of buskers in the town and amplified music after receiving a number of complaints.
It is set to be an agenda item at the next monthly meeting on June 7.
Town clerk Pam Dobson said that residents had been complaining about street entertainment in town and it also follows an incident over Goth weekend where a busker clashed with police staff who asked him to move on due to complaints.
The borough council is being asked to look into the by-laws surrounding buskers, street entertainment and amplified music and also the enforcement of them.
At a recent town council meeting PCSO Ian Rowley said: “We are waiting for the borough council to enforce the by-law. we provide the evidence for them to enforce it and that is what we are doing at this moment in time.”
Cllr John Freeman added: “The council can’t enforce it over the weekend because none of them are there. They don’t have the resources available to operate on that sort of level,”
