Pickering Town striker Ryan Blott is looking to make the most of a dream night on Monday evening.
The Middlesbrough supporter will make the trip to the Championship club’s Riverside Stadium to tackle his former side Whitby Town in the North Riding FA Senior Cup final.
And Blott is hoping that his current team can maintain their impressive form and topple a Whitby side who ply their trade two divisions above in the Evo-Stik Premier.
“It will be nice to play at the Riverside Stadium, especially being a Middlesbrough fan.
“It is nice of Middlesbrough to allow that to happen, I think all county cup finals should be played at the top grounds like that.
“Whitby will be a very good test for us, but we have proved ourselves this season, especially against the better teams.”
The Pikes have had a hugely impressive season bagging second in the NCEL Premier with 97 points, only being denied promotion by the record-breaking season of Cleethorpes Town.
Blott, who scored four goals in his last outing against AFC Mansfield, added: “In any other season we’d have gone up, but Cleethorpes had a ridiculous, record-breaking season and they were promoted instead.
“The fact that there are no play-offs in the NCEL in this day and age is embarrassing, but that is another story.
“We have a great set of lads at Pickering, it is a similar dressing room to the one we had at Scarborough when we won promotion.
“We go into games not fearing anyone and that will be the same against Whitby.
“On a personal note, I have had a good finish to the season, scoring 12 goals in the last 10 to take my total up to 25.
“Hopefully I’ll be able to keep that run going against Whitby on Monday night.”
