Whitby sky divers take 'exhilarating' plunge for Saint Catherine's

Fiona Sellers and Keith Wallace leapt out of the plane in glorious sunshine at Bridlington.

“It was the first time I had done it and wouldn’t mind doing it again – it was amazing,” said Fiona.

“It was something both Keith and myself had on a bucket list and it was ideal to blow away the lockdown cobwebs and to raise funds.

“You’ve just got to put all your faith in your instructor, lots of people do it.

“It was a mind-blowing experience.

“I was more terrified thinking about it before doing it but I lost all the fear and was full of adrenaline and ready to go once I was on the edge of the plane.”

Fiona did the jump in memory of Katrina Butler, a committee member of the Friends of Whitby Theatre and Whitby Amateur Dramatic Society who died earlier this year.

To date, Keith and Fiona have raised £1,165 between them for Saint Catherine’s.

Fiona added: “Saint Catherine’s have always been amazing in their support for families.”

Keith, who also chose to raise money for Saint Catherine’s after losing family members and friends to cancer, added: “To me, the freefall part was the best.

“Falling down to Earth at 125mph was totally exhilarating and it just blew my mind.

“After the canopy opened at 5,000ft, it felt like you were just floating on air until we reached the ground.

“I would like to thank all my family, friends and work colleagues who donated towards this great charity.”
