Whitby Musicport gets £37,000 grant to help put on 2021 festival at Whitby Pavilion
and live on Freeview channel 276
The £37,000 from Arts Council England will be used to allow Musicport to prepare for a festival at Whitby Pavilion, from October 22 to 24 .
Organisers Jim and Sue McLaughlin will be working with Pavilion management and event safety company Symphotech to ensure that plans made will meet safety requirements at the time, while creating an exciting programme for ticket holders.

Hide AdJim McLaughlin said: “Naturally our priority is to keep audience, staff and performers safe, so we have to work out ways to do that as well as creating the festival atmosphere Musicport is known for - but we’re thrilled to receive this award and really looking forward to being able to plan for the festival.
"I think our audience are desperate to have something like this to look forward to and we have a great line-up outlined, including the legendary Thomas Mapfumo from Zimbabwe, Ukrainian band DakhaBrakha, Roberto Fonseca (ex-Buena Vista Social Club, Cuba) and Cypriot band Monsieur Doumani.
"We just need to know what travel restrictions are likely to be in place.
"UK acts include Tankus the Henge, Mary Coughlan, Dizraeli, She’Koyokh and Ciderhouse Rebellion.”
