Pub quiz and raffle raises £900 for Saint Catherine’s
Garry Summerson, a member of Saint Catherine’s Whitby Support Group, raised a fantastic £900 from a recent pub quiz for the charity.
The well-attended quiz and raffle took place at the Stakesby Arms in Whitby, and it was a great night with 18 teams taking part.
The raffle was a huge success with around 50 prizes kindly donated by local businesses.
Mr Summerson said: “It’s our third year doing it and it’s taken off more and more every year.
“Last year we raised £530 so we were delighted with the total. Thank you to everyone who supported the event.”
Saint Catherine’s fundraiser Sian Cromack: “Thank you Garry and everyone involved – all the money will go towards looking after patients and their families, both in the hospice and at home.”
Saint Catherine’s provides a number of services, free of charge, to patients in Whitby.
The hospice covers a wide area of more than 1,600 square miles, including Whitby, Scarborough, Filey, Hunmanby and Ryedale. Its role is to look after people with a terminal or life limiting illness.
