Pickering-based animal group Jak’s Legacy hoping to raise funds to buy shelter for dogs and cats
Jak’s Legacy, which was set up by Kate Collier, is paying for eight dogs in pensions which now costs around £700 a month.
The group is now expanding and is trying to raise £20,000 within a few weeks to help buy a property to convert into an animal shelter for dogs and cats.

Kate said: “We do not want to ask people to donate huge amounts so we came up with the idea of asking for just £1.
“At the moment this small group has to raise funds to pay for the animals to be kept in pensions in Bosnia.
“Recently we managed to raise enough to get a tiny puppy off the street by a railway station. He is now safe.
