Green hearts on display at Whitby library exhibition
Whitby WI and a number of other organisations have utilised Whitby library as the perfect community space to promote the Show the Love Green Hearts campaign.
The global awareness project is part of the climate change coalition.
The campaign asks people to wear and share green hearts to show they would like to see action on climate change.
The library display of green hearts will be on show until tomorrow (Friday, February 14).
Whitby Beach Sweep, Whitby Against Single Use Plastic – Boomerang Bags, Whitby Naturalists and the Endeavour Group of WI members have all contributed to the display.
Tomorrow (February 15) there will be a special visit of a pedal powered smoothie bike courtesy of The North Yorkshire Rotters.
Last Valentine’s Day, green hearts connected millions of people and resulted in an historic pledge from all major political parties to take action on climate change.
This year, the WI’s reputation for crafting, members are leading the way, hosting green heart crafting sessions across the country.
A spokesperson for the event said: “Come along, burn off some calories on the special bike and earn your free smoothie.
“Don’t forget to join the library for free while you’re there. There are books on climate change to borrow, online resources for research and always a warm welcome!”
