Scarborough Borough Councillor Jim Grieve, Cabinet Member for Quality of Life, said: “There are many national league tables announced each year that cover a wide range of criteria, with those taking part in them likely to be different each time and taking into account varying tastes and opinions. Where a destination is placed within each league table will usually differ between each survey.
“While it’s fantastic for destinations right across the borough to be included, there’s so much more to consider when choosing where to visit, especially with all the hard work underway preparing for the anticipated bumper summer and autumn ahead.
“We know we’re biased but our borough is a wonderful place to visit for all age groups, full of amazing surprises, with a wide variety of quality accommodation, attractions, activities, events and places to eat and drink, all topped off with endless stunning views.

“These are being made possible through a combination of our own budgets and a number of government funding allocations announced previously.
“As we move forwards, with hope, to a post pandemic world, these investments aim to ensure we can capitalise on this year’s demand for UK holidays, support our local businesses and economy to build back better and help to retain the borough’s accolade as one of the nation’s favourite places to visit.”
Bamburgh in Northumberland came top of the Which? poll, followed by Dartmouth in Devon and Tynemouth in Tyne and Wear.
