Covid-19 named the villain as Comic-Con cancelled

Whitby Unleashed Comic-Con, which was due to be held on Sunday, November 15 at the pavilion, has been postponed due to Covid-19.

Comic-Con fans will have to until next year to enjoy the event at Whitby Pavilion.

Organisers said that Government guidelines aimed at stemming the tide of the virus have made it impossible for the popular event to take place this year.

Sharon Hall, of Unleashed Events, said: “We are very sorry but Whitby Unleashed has been postponed until Sunday, November 21, 2021.

“Whitby Pavilion has been closed since March 2020 and even if Government guidelines change for the better people at the venue can’t see themselves opening as a venue before 2021 and because of this we have taken the difficult joint decision to postpone.

“We really wanted this event and all of our other events in 2020 to happen and we worked so hard behind the scenes to try to get a great covid-secure event up and running, but sadly it wasn’t to be.

“Once again we are very, very sorry this is an unprecedented and challenging situation.”
