Pond Hill accident

A DRIVER and his passenger were cut out of their vehicle after it flipped over at accident blackspot Pond Hill on the A171 yesterday morning.

Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay fire crews responded to reports of a maroon 2009 Jaguar XF which had failed to negotiate the notoriously difficult bend in the road on icy conditions.

Reports suggest it may have clipped a grass verge which caused it to roll over and then with no fence to stop it, the car continued down the bank, coming to rest beside a tree, on its side.

The two casualties were uninjured but were trapped in their vehicle and the fire crews removed the roof to release them.
