Over £4,000 now raised in memory of nurse

Much-loved Heidi bravely battled a brain tumour before tragically succumbing to the cruel disease in November.

Since then, the Heidi Taylor Brighter Future Fund has been created to raise money to help sick children.

And over £4,000 in donations has now flooded in, with further tributes paid to popular Heidi through the cause’s Just Giving page.

“Such a brave and caring 
lady,” wrote a fellow nurse, who donated to the charity.

Another donor said: “Such a beautiful caring nurse and a privilege to have worked with her. Thinking of her family and friends.”

Almost 100 people have collectively raised £4,204 to date through the charity, which her husband Simon created to make sure her love of children never dies.

Despite dedicating her life to making children better, tragically, Heidi was told she could never have a child of her own.

“Her life was children,” said Simon, who lived with Scarborough-born Heidi in Hull, where she worked at the Hull Royal Infirmary.

“She gave everything she had for them so (the trust) is what she would have wanted.”

Now loved ones are preparing a celebration of the former Scalby School pupil’s life next month on what would have been her 34th birthday.

A tea party will be held on March 12 from 1pm at Hull’s Sacred Heart Parish Hall to raise money for Heidi’s trust.

It is one of several fundraisers planned for the trust this year, which aims to raise cash for a charity close to Heidi’s heart – the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

When The Scarborough News first reported Heidi’s story last month, around £2,200 had been raised.

Then, Simon paid tribute to his late wife, saying: “Heidi lived each day to the fullest, putting others first and looking after those around her, 
always with a big smile.

“She was the most loving, kind, considerate person I’ve ever met in my life.”
