Salem had a stuttering start to the season winning only two games in September and October, however they bounced back in November and December losing only twice and inflicting a very rare 18-8 defeat on high-flying West Leeds.

However they have lost their last two games at Old Brods and at home to Heath on January 28.

Prior to last week’s break, skipper Matty Jones’ men had won their last three games against Yarnbury, North Ribblesdale and Acklam, scoring an impressive 20 tries in the process.

Coach Lee Douglas has included Ian Williams, who came on to great effect at hooker against Acklam, and Joe Holliday, who scored one of the six tries in the same game.

Scarborough won the corresponding game 27-0 at Bradford back in October and also ran out 26-10 winners of the game the last time Salem visited Silver Royd in April last year.

Finally, the only senior Scarborough team in action last Saturday were the Vikings who turned in a great performance in beating Marist on the road.
