Benson Stage Academy students Katie Beeforth, 12 and Harriet Oakley, 15, have been accepted to attend National Ballet Schools during the summer holidays.

Katie will attend the York Dance Summer School which runs as a residential summer course at Queen Margaret’s School, Escrick, York.

The course includes classes in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz & Musical Theatre. At the end of the course all participants will give a Theatre performance finale.

Harriet is attending her second year summer school at the Northern Ballet in Manchester. This course offers young dancers the opportunity to train intensively within the summer school.

Harriet will attend four classes per day covering ballet, repertoire, jazz and tap.

A theatre performance will be given by all attending the summer school at the end of the course. The Northern Ballet School has trained and prepared students for professional careers in dance since 1977. Katie and Harriet have both worked extremely hard to gain places at these prestigious schools.

Principal of the Academy, Julia Trillo-Howard, said: “Their commitment and dedication to the art of ballet is outstanding.

“I am delighted that Katie and Harriet are furthering their ballet education at these summer schools and wish them both the best of luck on their venture.”
